every July

Every summer July passes us by in a whirlwind of events. I find myself thinking once we get past a certain event, things will calm down...but they never do. This month we went to the coast for Independence Day, celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary, we had a handful of informal get togethers and playdates, Ben was promoted at work and had his 1st vacation in 2 years, Kai turned 4 and we had a party to celebrate, Ben's company celebrated a big anniversary so we've attended several celebratory gatherings (BBQ, formal dinner, baseball game), I chopped my hair shorter than ever, we visited a camp at Triangle Lake and Ben got to wake board after missing out last summer, we took the boys to a "Touch-a-Truck" event, Kai had his 1st dentist appointment, and we attended a rehearsal and wedding for my cousin at which Kai was the ring-bearer.

{last night at my cousin Valeena's sunset wedding}

There hasn't been much space between events to blog about what we've been up to in much detail. I'll do my best to break some of it down and post some pictures. Maybe. But the best place to keep track of our goings-on and see pictures we take is on Instagram. You can find me at ShanLeAnn, Ben at bensonpeculiar, and he also posts Malakai's quotes and things at KaiThoughts.  I rarely use the DSLR anymore, but do want to remedy that if things ever slow down enough.

So, is it just us or is July crazy busy for the rest of you as well? I suspect it's easy to fill up with events when you're an Oregonian with only 8-12 weeks of relatively dry and warm weather.

Happy summer, hope you're enjoying it as much as we are!

swamped

There are so many things I want to write about (day to day, anniversary trip, various milestones) and a zillion photos I want to share, but with Kai's birthday party less than a week away- I have no time! I am hoping to do a massive update after the kiddo turns THREE!

We still exist...

...but you might miss us if you blink.

Catch a few quick snippets of what we've been up to over at the photo blog for now, I'll be back soon with some updates and lots more pictures.

posting

I have at least a dozen different blog posts swirling around in my brain. When I'm making breakfast, taking a shower, or driving to work I mentally "write" them. By the time I have a few minutes to sit down I've either completely forgotten about them or my attention is needed elsewhere (or a million different elsewheres). Just thought I'd let you readers out there know, that in my absence from this space I'm at least thinking about blogging...

welcome interruptions

I've been working, snuggling my boys and NOT cleaning house (only partly because our vacuum just died).

I did however do some catch up over at Project 365 (once again I was a whole week behind).

Lately though, I've had my nose buried in Catching Fire. Thanks to my sister who lent me Hunger Games, I'm totally hooked. I'm almost done will book 2 and will no doubt be totally consumed by the 3rd one. I just have to do my best to not read them before bed if I want to sleep well...

aaaand I'm back!

Yikes.

My blog was down for over a week and I am so sorry for no explanation before it happened. We kept putting off renewing my domain name and then I transferred it the day it was expiring. Bummer is that transfers take 5-7 business days. Whoopsie!

Anyway, I've transferred to purchasing my domain name from Twenty70 Hosting and I'm SO glad I did. Their customer service has already been amazing. Night + day compared to using My Domain before. I received one on one attention and personalized help from someone who actually cares. I highly recommend them for your blog/website needs!

So I'm back and I have a lot of catching up to do. Life has been busy in some good + satisfying ways and in some bad + not so happy ways. We are moving onward with life as always and keeping a positive outlook as we always shoot for.

While the blog was down spring arrived, and then it snowed (photos to come), and then it was sunny for a few days. Oregon. I have also been sick and I keep thinking that I'm getting better, and end up feeling worse. I have a tendency to overdo it when I am on the mend instead of letting myself heal completely. Thank you dearest husband for teaching me this interesting fact about myself.

I have also been terribly behind on my Project 365. I've been taking photos like a maniac, especially since getting an iPhone, but I have been bad about posting them. So I'll take some time tonight and over the next few days to try to catch up here and over there.

Meanwhile, here's a precious photo of my boys from today.

Thanks to those of you who are still around. Hang in there...

as usual

Just like always we have been busy little bees around here. Still in full potty-training mode with Kai and he's decided to add furniture-climber to his resume. We did a little furniture switch-a-roo last night which helped keep him off of the low dresser/changer at nap time, but he's still tempted by it in the playroom/Desmond's nursery.

Yes, the playroom is basically Des' nursery now. The crib has been in there since we put Kai's twin mattress in his room back in December, but the changer was still in his bedroom. Now that the crib and changer are back together, it's looking like a nursery...with a LOT of toys everywhere. I think it'll work well as both for now, but I'm sure it's not the last time we transition the two rooms. I don't think we'll be able to put them to bed in the same room for a very long time, so even though our home is small, I'm so thankful that we have 3 separate bedrooms!

Desmond's teething has calmed down a bit, which means better sleep...but not necessarily less drool yet. Kai was never a drooler, so this is new territory for us. I'm not sure if I should just carry around a burp cloth or put a bib on him. Maybe both.

I just updated my Project 365 blog. I always get backed up over the weekend.

Now I need to get back to tidying things up around here in preparation for tomorrow's small group meeting. Always busy, but super blessed.

two blogs

I have such a hard time keeping up with just one, but now that I'm also attempting the 365 photo project, it's even more challenging. I also struggle to not update with details on my photo blog and on the other hand, I don't want to stop using pictures on my posts here.

I've finished a few other projects and Ben's birthday is behind us, so hopefully this space will get a bit more attention in the coming weeks. Visit Project 365 for the latest photos for now.

Thankful on a Thursday: hustle + bustle

I feel like I've been procrastinating,  but really I just have two little ones that need all my attention. This means that 3 days before Christmas we are frantically trying to get the kids to sleep so we can wrap presents and bake goodies in preparation for upcoming celebrations. Whew, the days have gone by way too fast!

Still I have so much to be thankful for...

941. a very unexpected + generous Christmas bonus.

942. Desmond's first laughs.

943. Malakai's manners.

944. my mothers. they have been and will be integral to my being successful in my "new job"

945. seasonal beverages + other treats.

946. speaking of treats...our neighbors from down the street.They came by earlier this evening with a plate of goodies for Christmas- ADORABLE!

947. watching Desmond + Malakai interact.

948. the ability to get gifts for my boys.

949. my hard working husband who puts in at least 42 hours every week at work and then comes home to  diapers, tantrums, spit up and other non-glamorous parental duties and lets me take a "break" to get other things done. my hero!

950. the birth of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, without whom I would be lost.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

swamped

I'm going to be updating less frequently for the better part of the next two weeks. We've been busy but it's getting even crazier the closer we get to Christmas. We will have 5 different family Christmas gatherings starting Saturday, I'll be celebrating (?) my 30th birthday, and we'll be ringing in the new year at a wedding.
This week I'll be crafting all the gifts I have to finish up, then we need to organize and wrap them. I also plan to do lots of baking, some cleaning + organizing, and checking things off my long to-do list for work.

what we've been up to...

As I mentioned last week I've been keeping myself busy with items on my to-do-before-baby list like just about anyone in their 8th month of pregnancy. It seems whenever I get some good momentum something keeps me from moving forward. Mostly it has been my own physical limitations. After going to the chiropractor last week I was careful to no re-injur myself but my rib ended up going back out yesterday. I'm not sure if it's still out and it flares up or how all that works, but it's likely I'll need to make another trip to the chiropractor very soon. Sitting down to update around here is because I've been mandated by my husband to take it easy today as to avoid any additional injuries. I'm so stubborn determined that it may not last long. It's not like I'm being irresponsible or doing anything dangerous, just every day activities like unloading the dishwasher and playing with my son and whoops, excruciating pain.

Aside from being very busy with baby related things, I've also been keeping busy with toddler and birthday related things. Of course Malakai keeps us busy all the time and I try to spend all his awake time giving him the attention he deserves. During the day we play out back or at the park when mama has the energy and when Kai cooperates long enough to let me get him dressed. In the evenings we have some quieter playtime in the ever transforming playroom.

Photobucket
{jealous of my outfit?}

 During nap time I've been working on birthday presents. There are 5 September birthdays in our immediate family and 8 when you include our extended family. After 3 attempts I finally finished my brother's present...

Photobucket
{jersey-knit rag rug}

And then there's our house that seems to be falling apart around us. Our a/c has gone out 4 different times this summer for different reasons. We ran it all summer last year, a much hotter summer, with no issues. We also happened to have had a free year of home warranty then. Now that we don't have the warranty in place, everything is dying. The a/c is still out as we wait for quotes on a particular part and Sunday night our electrical panel got very hot and smelled like something was burning up. More money out of our pockets.

Last night we finished purchasing the "must haves" from our registry with the discount code (I moved my due date up so we could get the coupon from Target before baby). It was a really frustrating process because the discount wouldn't come off of all the things that were on our registry because they "reset" the baby section recently which apparently changes product numbers so they don't match even though I scanned the exact item when we registered months ago...say what?! The customer service gal was super rude about the entire thing and it just about ruined our evening.

I've been hoping to update about a lot of different things: the progress of the playroom (formerly the guest room), our garden, baby prep and other household related things but the time if flying by and my head is already spinning. We'll see how the next few weeks go...

wedding weekend

This adorable couple is now enjoying wedded bliss as of their lovely wedding on Saturday.

{Megan + Michael 7.23.11}

Ben + I were blessed to be a part of their ceremony and can't wait to see the rest of the photos. Unfortunately I didn't get a single photo of Ben, myself, or Malakai from the day with my own camera so we'll all have to wait for the professional pictures to come through.

On Friday night we headed to the Oregon coast  for the rehearsal with my mom + sister along for the ride to help us with Malakai. We checked into our hotel and were off to the dinner and to practice for the big day while Kai got incredibly sandy and refused to eat Taco Bell (that's my boy!).

That night sleep eluded us all in our shared double-queen hotel room. Malakai was not a fan of sleeping in a strange place. It took me by surprise after how well he had done camping just weeks before, but many factors played into the different outcome. He wasn't as dead tired as he was while camping from running around all day long, and he didn't have an enclosed sleeping space, free of distractions. He kept trying to climb out of the bed and over to my Mima + Aunt Nans. Then he insisted on sleeping on top of me, or he'd scream at the top of his lungs. So for as long as I could endure, I lay on my back, 6 months pregnant with a 30lb toddler on my stomach. I thought if I could lay there long enough to let him fall into a deep enough sleep I could roll him over. Despite his snoring, he still screamed when I tried to move him! It was a rough night...

The next day we got ready, packed up, and were dropped off at the church once again by my mom + sister. They headed to lunch and for more sandy fun at the beach. We figured if the came to the wedding ceremony Malakai would just call for me when he saw us walk down the isle, so they waited til the reception.

I came with my makeup ready, got my hair done by one of Megan's talented friends, and wrapped myself up into my bridesmaid dress with the help of my fellow bridesmaid Angie. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was the shortest I'd ever been to. After barely any sleep, I was thankful for the brevity.

Photobucket
{I did get a photo of their fabulous cake!}

We ate cake, mingled as much as we could, took a few more photos with the couple and then sent them off in a rush of blue + purple balloons before packing ourselves up and heading back to the valley.

Kai was overtired from not napping. He spaced out for most of the ride, it took him 45 minutes before he passed out. We came home and all napped for an hour even though it was 5pm- we needed it! The rest of the weekend we spent some time recuperating and visiting with family a bit.

We survived our busy July...a quick recap:
Camping
Our 4th wedding Anniversary
having a garage sale
Malakai's 2nd birthday
Bridesmaid + Groomsman

Whew! August, here we come. Here's hoping for warmer weather and a few lazy afternoons by the pool.

pushing through

This past weekend we had so many things going on that I had to push through the "morning" sickness and the exhaustion to get things done and meet social obligations. I'm glad I did, but I'd pay for it every night.

I switched from my prescription prenatal vitamins back to my over-the-counter brand and felt less nauseated as soon as the next day. I'll be discussing this with my doctor tomorrow. The main reason for the prescription was to get enough folic acid, but it's only a 200mcg difference, so I'm hoping it's ok. I never took prescription vitamins with Kai.

On Friday night we dropped Malakai off at Grandma + Grandpa Pottorf's house to go to a fundraiser at my brother Cody's High School for Mr. Falcon. It was dinner, a play, and an auction. I did pretty well eating the food and dealing with the smells. I had my trusty oyster crackers with me, which almost always helps.

{Cody + his friend Tyler}

When we got home I went straight to sleep, it was about 8:30pm. Yes, I was exhausted.

On Saturday I got up at 6am to get ready for a women's conference in Salem. My mother-in-law picked me up and we met my sister-in-law there. The conference was all day, I was armed with plenty of snacks and water to keep me from getting sick from an empty stomach and I did fairly well.

{me, Kristi, + Debbie}

I got home at 5:30 and we immediately rushed to get ready to head out the door again for a friend's 80's themed birthday party. We were late, but luckily they live just down the street. Here's what we threw together...

{Ben went 80's preppy. the bday boy in the background}

{Kai rocked some metalic guitars + mama had the classic side ponytail}

We got to meet yet another sweet newborn February baby, little Henry, and enjoyed a feast of Mexican food. We got home around 8:30 and after Kai went to bed, I crashed early again. I was so exhausted that I went to sleep with all my makeup on, blue eyeshadow + all.

Sunday I went to church at 8am for work. Ben + Kai met me later that morning for 2nd service. Malakai took a nap when we got home around 1pm and so did I (can you see a trend here?). Afterwards we went to my parents' place to visit and have dinner. Ben + Cody brainstormed skit ideas for the Mr. Falcon pageant coming up in May, I'm excited to see what they put together.

Yesterday I had planned on running errands, and even though I started to feel really sick again, I got ready and we headed out the door. On the way to the store Malakai fell asleep. It was also pouring down rain. So I decided to head to Jamie + Jacob's house to visit them, hoping Kai was sleep. But he woke up as soon as the rain drops hit his face. After visiting we headed back home and napped (the best time of day). Afterwards we picked up daddy from work and ran a few of the errands we didn't accomplish earlier.

I returned a pair of pants I had purchased at The Loft, but couldn't find the receipt. They generously gave me store credit, but the bummer is that they don't have maternity wear in store and I can't use it online. I'm thinking that maybe I'll be able to find some cute tops in the summer that will work for my swelling belly.

Speaking of, here's a photo from this past Friday.

I'm so terrible about blogging on Mondays lately. I get so tired over the weekend that I don't want to do anything but snuggle up with Malakai and rest. Hopefully I'll get my energy back soon and get back in the groove of things.

Even though it's already Tuesday, what did you do over the past weekend?

Thankful on a Thursday: Community

I truly believe that we are made to exist in community. I'm not theologist or pastor, so I'm not going to give you a sermon with a slew of Biblical examples. I believe this, because the Bible does illustrate it, but also because I feel it. When I'm in fellowship with others, my spirit is lifted and even when some things aren't going well, life feels more "right". If I'm away from others for an extended period, it has the opposite effect. Something feels off and I of course miss my family, friends, + church community.

I know this could also be due to the fact that I'm mostly an extrovert, but even so I'm also very much a home-body. I would often rather hang out at home than go out to dinner or a party. I also know many an introvert that know + feel exactly what I'm talking about when it comes to the need for community + authentic fellowship.

Recently our church went through some major changes. Much of it has been very difficult, and we've lost some valuable members. However, I feel an overwhelming sense of community among the remaining congregation. Especially among a new group of volunteers + leaders who have stepped up to make sure ministries still function to serve the congregation, our city, and the world. It amazes me how God uses hardships for change and gives beauty for ashes.

I'm so thankful for...

471. a community of believers with which to worship, serve, create, lift up, minister, love + so much more.

472. well fitting clothes + a husband who sometimes spoils me.

473. the way Malakai says "mama!" + smiles at me randomly throughout the day. It's like he's seeing me for the first time in ages, even though I've been right by his side the whole time.

474. lists. I just can't get enough of making lists. They help me stay organized get the jumbled thoughts out of my head to make room for more.

475. amazing deals.
{adorable slippers, $1.50 clearance yo!}

476. infant's ibuprofen + sesame street on our tivo. Without which, last night's sleep strike may have lasted forever.

477. being busy in a good way. When I feel depended upon to get something done, it motivates me and makes me feel useful. When I have a ton of things to do, none of which are enjoyable and all are thankless, that's when it gets a little rough.

478. God's way of guiding us by flinging doors open, gently closing them, or even slamming some shut.

479. the sun peeking through the clouds twice in one otherwise grey wintery week.

480. some quiet time to myself to type out this list of things + people I'm oh so grateful for.

What are you thankful for this week?

an event-ful week

Last week was packed with events, and surprisingly none of them were in relation to Christmas. On Thursday my Grandma turned 70 and we had a big celebration for her that evening.

{Great Grandpa + Gram}

Malakai had a lot of energy and was running all over the place. Ben + I took turns chasing him around. He also gave Uncle Cody, G'Pa, + Mima quite a workout.

{our little blur}

Friday Ben was sick with some weird flu thing (AGAIN!) and Malakai's ear seemed to (STILL) be bothering him. Ben stayed home and I took Malakai for a follow up appointment. Thankfully his ears are perfectly fine. Unfortunately, he's still recovering from his cold. His glands are swollen + his throat is red, which could be why he's feeling pressure in his ears. Sadly he's been cranky more often than not and having a lot of difficulty napping + sleeping at night even with some pain relievers.

Saturday we were busy preparing for something awesome that I'll save for another post. Later that afternoon I went to my cousin's baby shower. Her little girl with be the 2nd great-grand on our side of the family + the first girl of her generation.

I may have acquired a slight case of baby-fever watching her open all the adorable baby girl gifts.

{me, my sister, cousin Angela, aunt Sarah, + cousin Valeena}

It was so much fun to spend time with family outside of the upcoming Christmas gatherings (we have 4 and our parents are all still married).

Sunday was a whirlwind of a day that I'll also save for another more detailed post. It will include an interesting + exciting announcement, so check back for that!

How did you spend your weekend? I bet most of you were Christmas shopping!

fridays

Friday is usually everyone's favorite day. Lately, Fridays have been more challenging for me than any other day.

It's an early morning because we drop Ben off at work by 7am before heading over to watch Henry. This means waking up before 6am (ew) and having all 3 of us ready and out the door by 6:40am at the latest. Some mornings it's quite the difficult task.

Then we're away from the house all day. So Thursday nights are spent preparing breakfasts, snacks, + lunches for all of us. Sadly, this morning I ended up leaving Malakai's sandwich + crackers on the counter. So he got to eat my lunch instead.

The hardest part is getting Malakai to nap away from home. He's just so social that when we're away or there are visitors at our place he has a really hard time going to sleep.

Thankfully at this moment he is snoozing away (after 45 minutes of coaxing). I'm taking the opportunity to sit for a little bit and relax, there's no telling how long this quiet moment will last.

Thankful on a Thursday: blessed to be busy

I've been running around all day today, crazy busy.

but I like it.

This week I'm thankful for...

311. Refresh, the mom's group at my church. It was fun to finally get to go after a year of working during the times they meet.

312. A visit with my cousin. We chatted about life + pregnancy. It was fun to see her, she's an adorable little pregnant lady.

313. Malakai's growing personality. He's becoming really outgoing and he's hilarious.

314. motivation to get some cleaning + organizing done during Malakai's nap. It feels so good to have the mail + other paperwork filed away.

315. Being able to trust in God. Ben is up for a review at work and it's such a comfort to know that whether he gets a significant increase or not, God is our provider and we will be taken care of.

316. sunny weather. We had beautiful weather for my mom's birthday last weekend.

317. Ben's co-workers + those on the worship team that are always willing to give him a ride when he needs one {we only have 1 car}.

318. weekend dinner plans to look forward to with friends from out of town.

319. finally setting a date for our housewarming.

320. learning to enjoy cooking + baking more every day.

What are you thankful for?

packed

As I mentioned before, September is busy for us and we aren't even directly effected by all that is "back-to-school"!  Despite our already busy schedule, we're making things a bit busier. In addition to all the birthday madness going on, one or both of us serves at church every Sunday this month, plus Ben has worship practice on Tuesdays, I'm meeting up with a college friend I haven't seen in THREE YEARS tomorrow, we're packing up and going to the lake next weekend, and we're also trying to plan dinner or a playdate with three separate families. Pluuuus,  need to finish babyproofing and unpacking/cleaning for some house guests by October 1st because...

Exhibit A:

{yes, that is blue painter's tape keeping Malakai out of our pantry}

Exhibit B:

haha, see the roll of tape? It became a toy.

{this is what the living room + dining room looked like while I attempted to make muffins}

And where's Malakai you may ask?

Certainly not napping....

{where else, but underneath the table/chairs}

It's been a bit crazy as we try to pack as much as we can into the last weeks of moderate weather.

What do you have planned before the sunny days are gone?

Happy Weekend!

Birthday Weekend Part 3: Road Trip!

On Sunday of Malakai's Birthday weekend we had a wedding to go to for a friend of mine from college + work. We didn't have any more "birthday" activities, but I'm including this post in the series as it was all part of the busiest weekend of our lives so far.

 {Remember this post about her gorgeous Bridal Shower?}

It has actually been a lot of fun to have Malakai's birthday and her wedding fall on the same weekend. We've been counting down to "our big weekend" together since they set their wedding date.

That morning we got a slow start. Mostly because we thought that we had a 2 hour drive ahead of us, but according to google maps, we had a 2 and a half hour drive! So we bumped up our departure time by a half hour. We realized this at about 11:30am and needed to get out the door by 12:30pm! Needless to say, we didn't really get on the road til closer to 1pm. We even had to wake up Malakai from his nap. He was so sleepy I thought he'd just drift back to sleep. Instead, he just quietly sat there, looking a bit spacey for the most part. He was happy, and that's all I cared about!

Once we got to the church, it was 3:10pm, and the wedding was supposed to start at 3:30pm. I wanted to get Kai's diaper changed, dress shirt + shoes on before we went into the sanctuary. I headed to the women's restroom- NO CHANGING TABLE! I just about panicked. I went back to the front of the church, asked one of the lovely girls at the guestbook table if she knew where I could find one and she pointed me to the nursery. SAVED! It was also nice because the nursery had a tinted window into the sanctuary. Ben + I agreed that if Kai had a meltdown during the ceremony he'd take him in there so I could enjoy the wedding.

He babbled a few times and when he got really loud Ben took him out into the foyer, but no meltdowns! This was his 2nd wedding, but the first was when he was only 2 months old. He did such a good job! The ceremony was beautiful and I was so happy for Krista + Matt!

The reception was in the fellowship hall which was attached to the nursery, so nice + convenient.

Malakai met another college friend of ours who lives in California now. Whitney was a bridesmaid in the wedding. There were two other times she was supposed to meet Kai but her trips got cancelled, she was so excited to finally get to see him in person!

Later Malakai couldn't decide which bridesmaid he wanted to hang out with...so he chose both!

The reception was very casual. Just eating, visiting, toasts, + cake cutting.

{lovely centerpieces}

 Malakai cruised around a bit and we made sure he got some time outside as well.

One of my best friends, Carina, was really helpful to have around when we needed an extra set of hands. She's a very fun "auntie"! She also took this next photo for us. LOVE it!

This was the first time we stayed for the entire reception since Ben and I have been together. We are so glad we didn't miss the send-off. When Matt + Krista got through all the people and bubbles, there was no getaway car!

After a few very confusing minutes, someone drove it around front. Every wedding has to have a fun story like that!

It was after 6:30pm so we got Kai in his PJ's to make him more comfy for our long drive back. He passed out before we even made our first turn towards home and slept the whole way!

Ben + I enjoyed each other's company and the sunset all the way down I-5

We got home just after 9:30pm and settled down as our crazy weekend finally came to a close.

Now this week we've been trying out a new schedule with watching Henry. It's been interesting as the last 3 days Malakai hasn't taken very good naps. He either wakes up to early or won't go to sleep before we leave, and always refuses to nap while we're there. Thankfully he's fallen asleep on the way home and stayed that way for me to transfer him from car seat to crib. Luckily, this schedule will only be going for the next few weeks!

becoming a home

It's been way too long since I updated on the status of our new house. Mostly because it's been very slow going. 3 months in and we still have quite a few boxes. I know, I know, everyone keeps telling me it'll take a year or more to really settle and that they have unpacked boxes from 10 years ago in their house {yikes!} but I really wanted to throw a house warming before 2011!

Anyway, as of now there will be no house warming party. Perhaps we'll change our tune and throw one in the fall...after we've been here for 6 months. Is that allowed?

So here are some photos of our house "as is" meaning, I didn't clean up {aside from throwing the duvet over the bed real quick}. I even took photos before the dishes were done, gasp! Maybe this will help you see why this unpacking and settling in process is driving me CRAZY!

{the front room... we obviously don't spend much time in here as there is no room for people}

{our bedroom-there is a large dresser and vanity to the left and our closet is to the right}

{we got the cupboard up in the bathroom!}

{Malakai's room is the most put together}

{the guest room is a "catch-all" right now}

{living room}
